The U.S Senate voted tonight in a 52-48 vote to confirm President Trump’s third Justice to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court – Amy Coney Barrett, Esq. The 48 year old mother of seven children, the first Supreme Court Justice to be young enough to have children, is also now the only sitting Justice to not have graduated from an Ivy League college. (Harvard/Yale) The Notre Dame Law School grad breaks up this monopoly in a good way.
Nominated by President Donald J. Trump in May 2017 for the Seventh U.S Court of Appeals, she was vetted by the U.S. Senate and voted on in October 2017. As an exceptionally qualified candidate, she was easily sworn in to this appointment despite extremely long-term U.S. Senator Diane Fienstein. As the top Judiciary Committee member, in 2017, she made an anti-Catholic comment to Barrett – “the dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern.”
It was a fine moment to see Justice Clarence Thomas swear her in this evening, administering the constitutional oath. Barrett’s role as Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court will be able to begin after Chief Justice John Roberts administers her oath on Tuesday. Roberts, who was considered a conservative appointment to the court at the time under President George W. Bush, has proved to be at best, in the middle. All true patriots of America hope to see Justice Amy Coney Barrett rule fairly and according to the Constitution.
