Why This Is The Correct Decision

The minimal charges brought against Rowland, who was elected to three terms by Connecticut voters (1995-2004), were a drop in the bucket to what sitting federal and state legislators, appointees, former “Czars,” Not-for-Profit organization leaders and members, lobbyists, etc. did, have done, and do today.

More details tomorrow.

There is not much to expand on the story of John Rowland in that for those in Connecticut they know much of the story, although it was and has been largely narrated by the mainstream media which is agenda driven by the left. Because John Rowland was a U.S. Representative for three terms representing CT-5 from 1985-1991, his story is also well known among federal politicians that go this far back.

A rising star in the Republican Party, as a young Congressman and then Governor, he was even perceived as a possible contender to be the nominee for the office of the President of the United States. Rowland, at the time charges were brought against him, was the modern day example of a Republican being kneecapped by the Democrats, to take him out of the highest contention.

The Waterbury, Connecticut native was not without flaws personally, but neither are the majority of politicians historically and today. His accolades came from his ability to lead, govern and maintain personal appeal to his voters. Even after serving ten months in federal prison for tax and mail fraud in 2005-2006, he came back to host a popular local radio talk show.

In 2014, he had the misfortune of becoming involved with an eager CT-5 congressional candidate seeking the party nomination whose campaign paid him $35, 000. for consulting fees. Under various charges he served 30 more months in prison and the congressional candidate served five months. Rowland was released in 2018.

Now pardoned by President Trump, for those in politics, without going into the weeds, a lot of what transpired in Rowland’s story, happens all the time and is business as usual. This is not to say there are not some elected officials and campaigns that are 100 percent above board and follow every rule and guideline to a T, and many thanks to those who do out of respect for the public.

But anyone who follows the news, listens to podcasts, reads books written by authors who have real life accounts of what they experienced in this realm, understands this is the swamp, which President Donald J. Trump has challenged and addressed since first announcing his candidacy for President of the United States in 2015.

There are far worse lawbreakers in D.C. today and throughout all 50 states that have yet to serve any time, be made to resign, or pay any fines. Some of these people have conducted themselves this way for decades and keep getting a free pass with no repercussions. This is why Rowland’s pardon was understandable. His misdeeds pale in comparison to many. He, unlike others, served his time.
