{Editor’s note: these choices are in no particular order. They are my top ten in my view. It would be easy to add another five, all worthy of mention. Of course, there are many others beyond that…but, this is a top ten list.}

Okay. For those who need to know who the other five would be:
Alfred Hitchcock
Sydney Pollack
Anthony Minghella
James Ivory
Ang Lee
{Editor: Honorable mentions to both exceptional directors Martin Scorsese and Mike Nichols. Favorite Scorsese film “Raging Bull”}

{” Favorite Nichols film “Wolf.”}

Everyone always forgets Elia Kazan: Although his best known film may be “On The Waterfront,” the most timely one is “America, America.” http://hcl.harvard.edu/hfa/films/2009julsep/kazan.html

I didn’t forget him, Don. Another fine director with a long list of great films. These directors are my best. In re Kazan, “A Streetcar Named Desire” with Brando being both the beauty and the beast, and its sad reflection of the life of Blanche DuBois, stays with most people who watch movies in a serious way. His “Baby Doll” is another favorite of mine most people today don’t know.
